Native Windows x86-64 execution with a Vulkan renderer, aiming for stable and reliable performance.
SaaS Insight & Market Implications
This issue reports severe system instability with `totk-pc-recomp` on an AMD RX 6700 XT, leading to GPU driver crashes, system black screens, hard reboots, and requiring driver reinstallation. This is a catastrophic failure, far beyond a mere graphical glitch, directly compromising system integrity. The project's goal of native recompilation implies stability and reliability, which are completely undermined here. Such issues deter adoption, as users will not risk system corruption for a game. This points to deep-seated compatibility or resource management problems within the Vulkan renderer's interaction with specific AMD hardware and drivers. Resolving these critical stability flaws is paramount for `totk-pc-recomp` to be considered a viable and safe solution, as current behavior poses an unacceptable risk to user systems.
Reinstalled the drivers, they didn't crash but the game is crashing now [totk.log](https://github.com/user-attachments/files/34164445/totk.log)

I think I had this issue too - CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 - RAM: 32gb - OS: Win 11 - GPU: 7800XT (driver version 26.10.1) - TotK ver: 1.4.3 Couple of things to note: 1. I copied my save over from Eden. Im currently outside the time temple in the first zone and just got told to go to my first shrine. 2. I can load into the game, the title screen seems fine but once I'm in and can run about then objects in the distance flicker. 3. I think what ever problem is caused when I run about as when I didnt move the game ran fine, its when I ran down the steps of the temple it crashed. 4. The first crash required a restart, the second crash just crashed the application. 5. I only changed the window and game display to 1440 in the settings everything else is default. 6. The game and update files had already been ran through Edens 'Install files to NAND' function, I mention in case its relevant. Same issue on an RX 7800 XT, Windows, TotK 1.4.3, built from source. On driver 25.11.1 with default settings, it crashes with device lost within a few hundred frames of startup (`vkCreateGraphicsPipelines failed (-4)`, then `FATAL: vk: upload submit failed (-4)`). Workaround that gets past startup (tested on driver 26.10.1): in `totk.ini` next to `totk.exe`: ``` gpl = 0 vk_subgroup_pin = 0 ``` (or the env vars `TOTK_GPL=0` and `TOTK_VK_SUBGROUP_PIN=0`). With both, the game ran for about 3,700 frames into gameplay, with heavy stutter from pipeline builds (draws waiting 150–200 ms, one 7.7 s frame). Second crash (26.10.1, seen once so far): opening the settings menu (Escape) gives device lost on the first menu frame: `menu: open` → `FATAL: vk: vkQueueSubmit2 of a part of value 7494 failed (-4)`. Same problem. The block (question mark) is poorly positioned, preventing the photo from being taken. I did manage to take the photo after many passes over the statue (lots of gyro movement). Someti...

I made an other install with patch 1.4.3, the question mark triggers with this patch, which is better than with patch 1.2.1. However the question mark is flickering, as if it was active only on som...

As soon as I changed the refresh rate in the Recomp settings, the textures started looking normal; however, semi-transparent ones occasionally reappear, and repeating the process fixes it.
@NansMM The GPU driver reset at the title screen (device lost), and the log doesn't show what caused it. Could you add these lines at the end of totk.ini and run the game again? ``` [performance] v...
@valentderah Same crash as this issue on my machine, and I found a workaround. Adding this under `[performance]` in `totk.ini` fixes it: ```ini vk_recorder = 0 ``` **Setup:** TotK Recomp 0.1.1+701b...
